Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL)

CTL is a concepts that helps teachers relate school learning to real-word situations. CTL motivates learners to take charge of their own learning and to make connections between knowledge and its application. There are seven main components in CTL:

a.              Constructivism
b.              Finding
c.              Asking
d.             Community Learning
e.              Modeling
f.               Reflection
g.              The actual assessment
              Advantages:
·      Learning becomes more meaningful and real
·      Learning more productive and able to foster the strengthening of the concept to students because the learning method adopted CTL flow constructivism, in which student is led to find his own knowledge

              Disadvantages:
·      Teacher are more intensive in the lead
·      Teachers provide opportunities for students to discover or implement their own ideas and invite students for being aware and consciously use their own strategies for learning
